Ron and I have lived in many provinces in Canada in the past 37 years and dealt with many different builders, including going through the home-building process in Florida.  By far Bouma Builders has provided us with the highest level of service and quality of workmanship than any other contractor we've had.

Home building can be very challenging and frustrating at the best of times; however, with the many years of experience Bouma has behind them and along with the patience you shared with Ron and I, building our home was an exciting and carefree event for us.

It has been over a year since we built our lakeside cottage at Rondeau and with every visit we still relish its character, comfort and craftsmanship.  When we decided to build on our property outside Rondeau Park, Bouma Builders Inc. was our builder of choice.  Living in Chatham Kent most of our adult lives, we were aware of the reputation of Bouma built homes.  We approached Mike about a year before building and he laid out the process, the time frame and put us in touch with a thoughtful, creative architect.  When we signed the contract, a schedule was provided, the hole was dug April 15 and our cottage was basically complete August 15.  Throughout the construction we met and worked with reliable, thoughtful builders and trades people. Every showroom or building centre we visited treated us with the upmost respect and courtesy because we were Bouma clients.

Being in the road building business, we are familiar with managing sub trades and suppliers.  Mike managed the job beautifully and we moved in August 15, on time and on budget.

We were very pleased with every aspect of this project, and if we were ever to build again, our only choice would be Bouma Builders.

To Whom It May Concern:

Our house on River Line in Chatham was built by Bouma Builders in 2010. From start to finish, from considerations of the initial specifications to the final details of construction, Bouma Builders has been skilled, thorough, conscientious, professional, and a pleasure to work with. Although many people warned us that the building process would be difficult and disheartening, Mike and Scott Vandersluis made it possible for us to enjoy the process of seeing our dream home take shape.

We had many meetings with Mike as we planned our house and during the construction process. He was always available to meet with us and address anything that needed attention. His sound advice and openness to our ideas made us feel that our home was in excellent hands, and that we were an essential part of the team that would see it built. We were interested in doing some of the work ourselves, and he was both willing to work this into his schedule and helpful in offering advice when asked about the work that needed to be done.

Many people had warned us that builders’ schedules could not be trusted, and that we would be moving into our house long after the date we were given. In fact, the opposite was true. Mike and Scott gave us access to their work schedule from the beginning of the building process, and the house was ready on time. We always knew which tradesperson was working on the house and how long it would take. We deeply appreciated the information that Bouma Builders made accessible to us.

A friend experienced in home construction walked through the house as it was being constructed, and commented that in every aspect he saw attention to detail and quality workmanship. We were very impressed by the professionalism, care, friendliness, and attention to detail of Bouma Builders’ employees and all of the tradespeople who worked on our house. We have an airtight, energy-efficient home that will function beautifully for years to come, and we are grateful to Bouma Builders for everything they did to make this dream a reality.

We cannot recommend Bouma Builders highly enough. Their excellent reputation in Chatham and the surrounding areas was more than proven in the building of our house. Thank you, Mike, Kathy, and Scott for our wonderful home.

Bouma builders was a pleasure to work with. Mike worked for countless hours designing the structure that was going to be our home. Even though we did not know if we would be able to build for months or for years, Mike treated us like we were his most important customers. He met with us many times to offer his professional ideas during the initial design of the structure and layout. Mike could not have been more helpful, patient, kind, and professional. His experience, knowledge, integrity, and compassion for others made our experience very rewarding and enjoyable. When Scott started to work on the details of the house we soon realized he was as thorough as his dad. Scott was always very respectful, knowledgeable, and willing to do whatever it took to help us create the home of our dreams. Together, Scott and Mike made sure our home was completed on time, on budget, and exceeding our expectations.
